In the event of a defeat of Ukraine, the conflict will become a “maximum threat” for NATO territories and neighboring countries. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, speaking on the air of the German public television channel Ard.
“If Ukraine falls, if Putin wins this war, having occupied Ukraine or most of it, this will become the maximum threat to NATO territories, as well as for neighboring countries as Moldova and Georgia,” the minister said.
Pistorus assured that even if the support of Ukraine by the USA, Germany will continue to provide military assistance.
“It is not only about solidarity with Ukraine, but also about our own security and peace in Europe,” he stressed.
Germany ranks second after the United States among countries that provide Ukraine with political, financial, military and humanitarian support.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Germany has provided Ukraine in the amount of 44 billion euros in the form of humaneousness, direct payments, as well as weapons.
According to the report of the Stockholm International Institute for Research of Peace Problems (Sipri) on global military spending for 2024, Germany, having spent $ 88.5 billion, was among the countries with the largest military spending in the world.
