The Opposition Party “The Unified National Movement” called on the Ministry of Justice of Georgia to limit the purchase by citizens of Russia real estate in the country and take measures to control those who come from Russia. This was stated by one of the party leaders, parliament deputy Levan Khabeishvili, reports Georgia News.
According to him, over the past six months, Russian citizens have acquired 3,245 real estate objects, which is comparable to one microdistrict of the Tbilisi areas of Varketi or Gldani. Also, according to him, up to 16.5 thousand Russians received a residence permit in Georgia, and more than 6.5 thousand registered business in the country. “This is dangerous for the security of our country in conditions when the Georgian government does not control anything. These people are not limited in any way, and we do not know if they violate the law on the occupation,” Khabeishvili noted.
“National Movement” proposed to limit the deadline for tourists from Russia in Georgia by one month, to introduce restrictions on the purchase of real estate, to introduce restrictions on conducting entrepreneurial activities, to oblige Russian citizens on the border to confirm that they recognize the territorial integrity of Georgia.
