In Iraq For First Time In 37 Years, Census Is Being Conducted

For the first time in 37 years, a two -day universal census of the population began in Iraq, covering the whole country, including the provinces of the regional government of Iraqi Kurdistan (KRG).

Director of the Department of the Ministry of Planning of Iraq on the census of Kirkuk, Mustafa Ekrem, in his statement, the AA correspondent said that the population census began both in Kirkuk and all over Iraq.

According to this information, that 5 thousand 600 civil servants were allocated to go around houses, which will last in Kirkuk for 2 days.

The census should be carried out in Iraq every 10 years, it was not possible to organize it due to violent incidents after the US invasion to the country in 2003.

The census will affect the issues of budget planning, development projects, the number of places in parliament and provincial assemblies.

Ethnic and sectarian issues will not be included in the census, which will be carried out in electronic form.
