In New York, a meeting was held in the G7+ Ukraine group, at which more than 30 countries and the European Union adopted a joint declaration on supporting the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine, the office of the head of the Ukrainian state reports.
At the meeting, US President Joe Biden again announced his support to Ukraine.
“I am determined to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to win and struggle for its survival. Tomorrow I will declare a number of actions to accelerate the support of the Ukrainian military,” the US President said.
He also noted that partner countries will help Ukraine move from economic resistance to economic revival. According to Biden, income from frozen Russian assets will be used to restore the country.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, noted that this general obligation will contribute to the restoration of Ukraine. It involves coordination of appropriate efforts through the Ukrainian donor platform. The President focused on the fact that this support should become tangible this year.
“This testifies to our general view of life – we protect people and provide them with the opportunity to live. And it is completely justified that those who help us to survive now, the first – together with Ukraine, will benefit from large -scale reconstruction,” emphasized He.
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, the main points of the declaration are comprehensive assistance to the restoration of Ukraine on its way to EU membership, coordination of support through the Ukrainian donor platform, the provision of additional financial support in the amount of about 50 billion dollars at the expense of income from frozen Russian assets, some of which will be directed to defense needs.
