Among the 18 members of Cigeps, Azerbaijan, France, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Madagascar and Qatar were elected members of the committee bureau. Next, the election of the leader took place. The Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, President of European Gymnastics Farid Gaibov, who will head the Committee for two years, was unanimously elected to them.

He said that during the chairmanship of Azerbaijan it is planned to closely cooperate with all members of the committee in the name of more efficient work.
It is worth saying that the intergovernmental committee of physical education and sports is the only one in UNESCO, engaged in politics and programs in physical education and sports. Cigeps was created in 1978 to promote the role and significance of sports and its significance for state policy. The committee consists of experts in the field of physical education and sports of 18 UNESCO member states, each of which is elected for a four-year term. There are also permanent advisory members. These include organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, the Council of Europe, the Commonwealth of Nations and others. There are appointed advisory members, including FIFA and a number of other international sports federations. Members with advisory status provide technical support and advise the committee.
