China is increasing its nuclear forces much faster than the US officials predicted only a year ago, the Pentagon report says.
According to the report, the extension of military power will allow Beijing by the middle of the century to exceed the global power of the United States.
The report also states that the number of Chinese nuclear warheads can grow to 700 for six years, and by 2030 may exceed 1000.
Pentagon does not report how many nuclear warheads in China now, but a year ago the department argued that the amount is within 200 and “probably doubles by the end of this decade.”
For comparison, the United States has 3,750 units of nuclear weapons.
