In Rome, they discussed European path of Moldova

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the European integration of Moldova Nick Popescu met in Rome with the Italian colleague Antonio Tayani.

According to the press service of the Meide, the ministers discussed the European path of Moldova and the progress of the country in the implementation of nine recommendations of the European Commission.

“Our goal is to get positive recommendations regarding the start of negotiations on the entry, we count on Italy support in this regard,” the department said.

Diplomats also discussed the fourth platform for the support of Moldova, which will be held in Chisinau in October this year. “This instrument helped us overcome the crises of 2022. Now we will focus on the purposes of sustainable development and hope that Italy will continue to support us in these efforts,” the report said.

Popescu and Tayani also affected the issues of economic cooperation.

According to the Moldavian Minister, Italy ranks fifth among the main investors of Moldova. “We want to attract even more Italian investments, especially in the field of renewable energy sources. At the same time, we are interested in opening new flights between our countries, given our numerous diaspora in Italy,” he emphasized.

As for the security issues Popescu noticed that Moldova intends to be a factor in stability in the region. “Our participation in peacekeeping operations in Europe, in the Middle East and Africa is an expression of this commitment.
