The two -day Summit Russia – Africa starts in St. Petersburg on July 27. The event will be held at the Expoforum Congress and Exhibition Center.
The purpose of the summit is to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and African countries.
As part of the event, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to be performed. It is also expected that many African countries will be represented at the highest level.
In addition, representatives of international organizations, public and financial institutions, embassy, politicians, investors and business people will gather at the summit site. More than 3,000 delegates from 60 countries are expected to participate.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that today Moscow has received confirmation of participation in the Russia -Africa summit from 49 countries.
This was stated on Tuesday at a press conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Polyakov.
“At the moment, we have received confirmation of the participation of 49 African delegations, while about half of the countries of Africa will be presented at the highest level – the heads of state and governments,” said Polyakov, whose words are given by the Russian media.

According to Polyakov, this approach from Africa demonstrates a firm mood for the development of relations with Russia, despite the unprecedented pressure of the West.
“The latest preparations for the highest level are currently going on: its program is finalized, a schedule for meetings of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is being formed, bilateral and multilateral documents of our cooperation with the Africans are being prepared for signing,” he added.
