The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, advocated the sending to Ukraine who became Russians of the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus to participate in the “Special Military Operation”.
“By acquiring Russian citizenship, these people receive not only rights, but they also have the obligations established by applicable law. One of them is the passage of military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in compliance with the requirements,” Bastrykin said in an interview Russian media.
According to him, foreigners massively receive Russian citizenship, bypassing military service.
“Over the past five years, more than a million people who arrived from the countries of Central Asia and Transcaucasia, including 550 thousand residents of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, have acquired it. Only in the first half of 2022 more than 60 thousand adult citizens of these countries received Russian Citizenship and, therefore, not only rights, but also a constitutional obligation to protect them by the country. In this regard, it is advisable to consider the priority direction of naturalized citizens to participate in the tasks of a special military operation, ”Bastrykin said.
