Discuss contacts in the format “5+2” on Transnistria prematurely, said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin. According to him, “the future of the negotiation format will become clear after the resolution of the situation in Ukraine.”
The format “5+2” includes a separatist Transnistria and Moldova as “parties to the conflict”, Russia and Ukraine as guarantors and intermediaries, the OSCE as an intermediary, the European Union and the USA as observers.
According to Galuzin, now the main thing is “Returning the constructive beginning of a dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspollah.”
He also noted the “importance of compliance with previously achieved agreements”, which, according to him, “while there is no advance.”
“Old and new problems remain,” added Galuzin.
