Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that provides for amendments to the criminal and criminal procedure codes related to military operations and cooperation with foreign states. The document is published on the official portal of legal information.

The law introduces criminal liability for citizens of Russia and those who permanently live in the territory of the Russian Federation, for participating in hostilities for purposes “contradicting the interests” of the country. For such actions will be punished by deprivation of freedom for a period of 12 to 20 years and a fine of half a million rubles.
