In Saudi Arabia, they are struck by “US accusations that the kingdom supports Russia in the war against Ukraine. Such a statement was made by the Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, Prince Halid Ben Salman Ben Abdel Aziz.
“We are amazed at the accusations that the kingdom supports Russia in its war with Ukraine,” he said, according to which the OPEC+ decision was made unanimously and caused only by economic reasons.
“Despite this, some accused the kingdom of supporting Russia,” he was indignant.
Last week, OPEC+ reduced oil production quotas by 2 million barrels per day. Half of the reduction will be in two countries – Russia and Saudi Arabia. Their quotas were reduced by 526,000 barrels/day to 10.48 million barrels/day, respectively. After that, the press secretary of the White House Karin Jean-Pierre said that Biden considers it necessary to revise relations with Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Faisal Ben Farhan noted that the OPEC+ decision was economic, not political.
