Ankara will not allow the expansion of the territorial waters of Greece in the Aegean. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Chavushoglu at a press conference at the end of the year, the Anadola agency reports.
“We warn Greece: do not look for adventures. The consequences may be very detailed for the Greek side,” he said.
Chavushoglu emphasized that “Turkey will continue to defend its interests in both the Aegean and Mediterranean seas” and will not allow the expansion of the territorial waters of Greece for 1 mile, not only 12 miles, which are declared in Athens.
He recalled that the Turkish parliament in 1995 made a clear decision according to which Ankara will qualify the expansion of Greece of borders in the Aegean Sea basin as an incident Belli.
