In Turkey on Wednesday, March 18, the 110th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Chanaccal is celebrated – one of the most large -scale and bloody battles of the First World War period
During the First World War, the whole world witnessed the heroic confrontation of the Turkish troops in the battle of Chanakkal, where Mustafa Kemal Ataturk forced the allies forces to recognize Dardanelles impregnable.
The battle on the Helibol Peninsula at Chanaccal took place both on land and on the sea.
The sea battles continued from February 19 to March 18, 1915.
The land confrontation lasted from April 25, 1915 to January 9, 1916.
This battle is considered one of the most bloody battles in the history of Turkey.
