In Turkey, they told how the joint coordination center for the grain corridor will work. The statement was made by the Minister of Defense of Turkey Hulushi Akar at the opening ceremony of the center in Istanbul.
“The goal of the SKC is to ensure the transportation and distribution of grain exported from Ukraine. The movement of the courts will be monitored, and the entire process is coordinated by the UN and other parties to the agreements,” said Hulushi Acar.
According to him, the responsibility of the center is to ensure safe sea transportation of grain and similar food products exported from Ukrainian ports Odessa, Chernomorsk and South. The Center will register and track merchant ships that will participate in the initiative, technically monitor the departure of merchant ships through satellite and other channels. If necessary, the center will inspect the courts upon their arrival in Turkey.
The Minister of Defense of Turkey emphasized that the signed agreement on the grain corridor was concluded for 120 days, but the parties can extend it at will. Now everyone is preparing for the first grain supply.
He also answered the question of the clearance of Ukrainian ports. “At this stage, there is no need to mine,” said a senior official. He noted that if such a need arises, the parties will take the necessary measures after joint discussion.
