Herek Historical Carpet will be restored in the city of Aksaray in the central part of Turkey.
This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Nadir Alpasslan.
The carpet was presented to the Palace of the World in the Hague in 1905 by decree of Sultan Abdul-Hamid II.
The carpet area is about 162 square meters.
Alpasslan noted that this unique carpet is one of the vivid examples that reflect the cultural wealth of Turkey.
“Restoration will be carried out with the involvement of the commands of the relevant specialists. Much attention will be paid to the preservation of the original texture and aesthetics of the carpet,” he said.
According to him, both modern and traditional methods will be used in the restoration process.
Alpasslan emphasized that the restoration of the carpet will become a contribution to the world cultural heritage.
