In Ashgabat, a meeting of the high level of the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Environmental Protection of the countries of Central Asia took place. It is reported by Torkmenportal with reference to the International Information Center (MIC).
The main emphasis of the meeting was made on climatic changes and the need to develop coordinated measures to adapt them, reduce natural disasters, increase awareness in these issues.
Among the key aspects, sustainable management of water resources, the development of water diplomacy, and involving women in this process were named. The established close partnership was noted between the OSCE and the Central Asian states in these directions.
The subject of special attention was also water and agricultural topics, the transition to the “green” economy, waste management and a reduction in harmful emissions, the improvement of the environmental culture of society.
During the meeting, the priority positions of Turkmenistan on the development of regional cooperation were announced. Environmental protection, ensuring environmental well -being and effective interaction with foreign partners are determined among the main vectors of the country’s state policy.
