The US Department of Defense has completed the development and creation of a swarm of unmanned aerial vehicles, according to The Drive.
This is a Block 3 version of Raytheon’s Coyote drone and an associated launcher that is immune to data line interference and a software package that allows the aforementioned drones to operate as a autonomous swarm. That is, these drones are capable of attacking air defense means of a potential enemy in a swarm.
Such a drone attack leads to the fact that the number of targets hit ultimately exceeds the enemy’s firepower. This system can be used as part of the US Air Force’s Golden Horde precision weapons system.
It is reported that the UAV in the swarm can be used to solve a variety of tasks – from reconnaissance and assault to acting as decoys. The Pentagon has donated materials and related developments to the Army, Air Force, Navy and the United States Marine Corps.
