On the island of St. Lawrence in Alaska, two residents of Chukotka who escaped from the army by boat were detained, writes the local publication Alaska’s News Source.
According to the publication, the Russians landed on the island on October 4. They informed the locals that they sailed from the village of Egvetveinot on Chukotka, which is at a distance of about 500 kilometers in the sea.
They were detained and sent to the city of Gambell on the island, and later the Russians were moved to the largest city of Anchorida in Alaska. Now the federal authorities find out whether the Russians have violated the rules for crossing the border of the United States and whether they have the right to be in the country.
