In United States, they can create a sea corridor for removal of grain from Kyiv

American senators are urging the US Presidential Administration Joe Biden to create a humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea to organize the supply of millions of tons of grain “blocked” in Ukraine, reports Politico.

According to the newspaper, at the moment, millions of tons of wheat, corn and sunflower oil are “blocked” in Ukraine, local farmers are preparing to collect the crop, but they will have nowhere to store it if they cannot send it abroad. The publication considers the main problem the termination of the work of Ukrainian ports in connection with the crisis in the region.

According to the newspaper, US lawmakers and international observers consider the sea corridor the only way to put a sufficient amount of food in the conditions of “sky -high global food and delivery costs”.

According to the bicopartican group of legislators, Washington now has a “narrow window for action”, since the situation in Ukraine is deteriorating.

Some senators are afraid that the Odessa port will not be able to resume the work of shipping grain in the next few months, the newspaper writes. According to representatives of the Biden administration, the White House is studying options for managing grain supply. Nevertheless, the creation of ground routes for the delivery of Ukrainian grain will require large financial costs and take a lot of time. The article notes that ground transport also will not be able to implement deliveries to the volume in which they are carried out through seaports.
