To study the features of the new version of Coronavirus B.1.1.529 will be needed for several weeks, the spokesman for the World Health Organization (WHO) said Christian Lindmayer.
Preliminary analysis showed that this virus has a large number of mutations requiring further study.
“Researchers are working to better understand mutations and the fact that they potentially mean how transmissible or virulent is this option,” Lindmayer said.
He also added that at the moment there is also a potential impact of the new coronavirus strain on the effectiveness of vaccine against COVID-19 and its diagnostics.
