Senior Officer of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Emergency Situations Catherine Smallwood stated that the cluster of people in the host cities of the European Championship – 2020 led to an increase in the number of new cases of coronavirus disease.
The representative of the organization believes that the lack of restrictions on fans will lead to a new Pandemic wave.
“We need to look not only on the stadiums themselves. We need to look at how people get there, as they go to crowded buses. When they leave the stadiums, they go into crowded bars and pubs,” Quoted Smallwood Inside The Games.
The European Championship was postponed from 2020 for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Most tournament matches passed on arons with 20% expired. At the same time, there were no restrictions on “Pushkash Arena” in Budapest, and up to 61 thousand people could come to 61 thousand people.
Last week, the Government of Great Britain approved that more than 60 thousand fans will be allowed on semifinal matches and finals.
