Law enforcement officers in Yerevan detained participants of the protest action against the concert planned by the authorities on September 21 in honor of the Republic Independence Day, TASS reports.
According to information, about 200 participants in the action tried to go to the Republic Square in the center of Yerevan, to the government building, but the police blocked the approach to the square from the surrounding streets. Detention occurred on Abovyan Street leading to the main square of Yerevan.
Earlier, the head of the Armenian Government Nikol Pashinyan said that the anniversary of independence should be celebrated properly. He noted that on September 21, colorful festive events will be held on September 21 in Yerevan. However, part of the relatives of the dead Armenian military demanded to cancel the celebrations. On weekends should have passed protests.
