According to the preliminary results of the first round of the presidential election in Romania, the independent candidate of NATO and the West, Kalin Georgeic, leads with a result of 22.9%.
more than 99% of the vote is calculated, but the results are not yet final. In the second round, which will take place on December 8, Prime Minister Marcity Cholak, supported by the ruling Social Democratic Party, and Elena Lasconi from the Romania Rescue Party, continues to fight for the right to become an opponent of Georgeic.
The gap between the two candidates who gained about 19% of the vote decreased to less than 1000 votes. The final election results may change, as votes from polling stations abroad remain unaccounted for, mainly from the USA and Canada.
