India And New Zealand Signed Pact On Strengthening Defense Cooperation

India and New Zealand concluded an agreement on the expansion of cooperation in the field of defense to ensure security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

According to Hindustan Times, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a joint press conference with his New Zealand colleague Christopher Lakcona, who is in New Delhi on an official visit.

Modi noted that during the negotiations the parties discussed the issues of deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, education, agriculture and the fight against terrorism.

He emphasized that both countries support the concept of a free, prosperous and safe Indo-Pacific region and expressed his readiness to develop a roadmap to strengthen defense partnership.

announcing the signing of an agreement in the field of defense, the Indian prime minister said that both of our countries advocate a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

“We support politicians focused on development, not expansion,” said the prime minister.

In turn, Christopher Laxon called negotiations with Modi productive and noted that India and New Zealand intend to work closely to further strengthen bilateral relations.
