India wants to buy oil from Russia for less than $ 70 per barrel in order to compensate for the risks associated with financing supplies after the anti -Russian sanctions introduced, NDTV reports with reference to informed sources.
“India wants to purchase Russian oil at a price of $ 70 per barrel in order to compensate for additional obstacles associated with ensuring financing supplies,” TASS quoted the interlocutors of the television channel. Sources noted that the price of Brent barrels is currently about $ 105.
NDTV noted that the supply of Russian oil to India does not fall under the sanctions introduced by the West against Russia, but they were complicated in connection with the limiting measures that appeared in the field of insurance, as well as due to US pressure on New Delhi. At the same time, according to the channel, Indian state and private companies imported 40 million barrels of oil from Russia since the end of February, which is 20% more than in 2021.
