In the eurozone countries, the rates of annual inflation continued to accelerate in March, exceeding analysts’ forecasts and updating the historical maximum fourth month in a row. This is evidenced by the preliminary data of the European Statistical Agency (Eurostat) on Friday, April 1.
So, consumer prices last month increased by 7.5% compared with March 2021 after lifting for revised 5.9% in February.
The main factor in acceleration inflation has become energy prices that jumped in March by 44.7% in annual terms after growth by 32% months earlier on the background of war in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.
