Russian forces conducted limited terrestrial attacks to the north-east and south of the city of Bakhmut, on the northwestern outskirts of Donetsk and southwest of Donetsk. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to the institute, in the Kharkov direction, Ukrainian forces tried to break through Russian positions, which suggests that Ukrainian forces continue limited ground attacks in order to withstand the retention of positions in the northern part of the Kharkov region.
In the south of Ukraine, Russian troops achieved limited territorial successes east of Nikolaev and in the north-west of the Kherson region, the Institute for the Study of War reports.
It is also reported that Ukrainian forces continued to strike at Russian military facilities and ground communications in the Kherson region.
In the ISW report, for August 23, it is noted that the Russians themselves staged the shelling of the administration of the head of the DPR DNIS Pushilin in Donetsk. “The Russian media presented the attack as a direct Ukrainian blow to the Building of the DPR government in order to create information conditions for response blows to Ukrainian government buildings on Independence Day,” military analysts said.
ISW reminded that the authorities of Ukraine called on civil servants in Kyiv to work from home for a week from August 22 to 26 due to the threat of missile strikes of the Russian Federation.
