VI International Opera and Ballet Festival “Ephesus” will open the premiere of ballet of the famous composer Peter Tchaikovsky “Sleeping Beauty”.
The event in the province of Izmir will be supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.
In an interview with Anadol, the director and artistic director of the State Opera and Ballet Theater Imbul Aim Sunal Savashkurt reported that the ballet “Sleeping Beauty” is being prepared for the opening of the festival, one of the most difficult works from the classic ballet repertoire.
“We have stopped rehearsals that began in January, due to an earthquake. Preparation for the premiere has been conducted for a month. I have been doing ballet on stage in Izmir for the first time. The opening of the festival was very important for me,” said Savashkurt.
In turn, the director of the Izmir State Opera and Ballet Theater Aydin Ustuk said that ballet dancers will perform on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in the ancient city of Ephesus.
According to him, this year, five works will be presented within the framework of the festival, two of which will be shown for the first time. “On July 7, we open the festival with the premiere” Sleeping Beauty. “Later, art lovers will be offered the ballet” Carmen “, which was prepared by the State Opera and Ballet Theater of Samsun.
The festival will end on July 21 by the premiere of the opera of the Italian composer Gaetano Donitni Lucia di Lammermur, ”said Ustuk.
