The training system for sailors of the State Sea and Port Agency in the subordination of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport successfully passed the audit of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The checks were carried out by official IMO auditors in January-April 2022. Haqqin.az reported this in the department.
During the audit, measures taken were analyzed in order to bring the process of preparing and certification of sailors in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on the preparation and certification of sailors and carrying out the IMO shift and the relevant regulatory documents.
According to the results of the audit, at the 105th session of the Security Committee on the Sea of International Maritime, it was decided that the State Sea and Port Agency fulfilled the requirements of the International Convention. It was instructed to inform all the member states of the organization on the inclusion of Azerbaijan in the “White List” of IMO in the field of training of sailors.
Successful Audit means that diplomas and certificates issued to sailors by the State Sea and Port Agency will be recognized by 175 member states of the International Maritime Organization. This increases trust in the knowledge, skills and professionalism of our sailors, creates wide opportunities for the employment of Azerbaijani sailors on ships floating under the flag of foreign countries. The process of drawing up documents of our sailors when entering the courts in foreign ports is also simplified.
Note that the International Marine Organization conducts this audit once every five years.
The State Sea and Port Agency continues to take comprehensive measures to implement international agreements, to which Azerbaijan has joined the relevant area, including the International Convention on the preparation and certification of sailors and the shift.
