Internet Services In Syria Are Provided Using Outdated ADSL Technology

The Minister of Communications and Technologies of the New Syrian Government Hussein al-Masri said that Internet services in Syria are provided using ADSL technology using old networks of 20 years ago.

In an interview with the Syrian News Agency (Sana), Masri drew attention to the poor state of telecommunication infrastructure in the country: “The current state of telecommunications in the country does not please the Syrian people. It is also incompatible with modern technologies”.

“Internet services in Syria are provided using ADSL technology using old copper networks of 20 years ago. To improve the quality of Internet services, they must be updated or replaced,” said Masari, adding that a circular was published about the need for the situation about the need for the need issuing licenses to telecommunication companies and Internet providers.

The Syrian minister emphasized that the overthrown regime of Assad used the telecommunication sector only in its interests.
