Iran began calculations in Russian rubles and Iranian Rials in financial transactions with Russia to reduce the influence of the situation with the dollar, said the head of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salikhabadi following the Cabinet’s meeting.
He noted that the transition to calculations in the national currency was started with Wednesday, July 20. According to Salihabadi, this step will strengthen the economic relations of Iran with Russia, while the significance of other currencies, such as the dollar and the euro, will decrease in the Iranian market. “A good step was taken the day before thanks to the conclusion of a transaction for two million rubles. I hope it will continue, the volume of transactions will increase,” Salikhabadi quoted Anadolu.
He also added that in Tehran they hope to reduce the volume and influence of currencies as dollar and euro due to a variety of foreign exchange portfolio.
