Iran Announced Readiness For Negotiations On Lifting Of Sanctions

Deputy Foreign Minister Iran, Kazim Garibabadi, said that Tehran is ready to resume negotiations on lifting economic sanctions and that if the other side also shows a desire, we can achieve the result.

According to the official Iranian News Agency Irna, Garibabadi made a statement at the ceremony dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Geneva Convention.

“As before, Iran is ready to resume negotiations on the lifting of sanctions. We have always been configured for this. If the other side is also configured, negotiations will happen and lead to the result,” Garibabadi noted.

He emphasized that there are suitable conditions and opportunities for the resumption of negotiations and the achievement of the agreement, adding that economic sanctions had a negative impact on the people, but did not achieve their goals.

Iranian official also said that in recent negotiations with three European countries (Germany, Great Britain and France), a new round of negotiations with Europe and the continuation of consultations were agreed.

“We will determine the date of the new round of negotiations through joint consultations, but we agreed to continue negotiations,” he added.

January 13, the third round of negotiations between Iran and Germany, Great Britain and France took place in Geneva.

Agreement on a joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD), known as a nuclear agreement, was signed on July 14, 2015 between Iran and permanent members of the UN Security Council (USA, Russia, China, Great Britain and France) and Germany (5+1) .

Nevertheless, in 2017, US President Donald Trump announced the country’s withdrawal from the agreement in May 2018.

Attempts to resume nuclear negotiations were unsuccessful, and Iran began to enrich Uranus up to 60%.

General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariana Grossy, in his statement in December 2024, said that during a visit to Tehran, he met with Iranian President Masuda and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi and noted that they are located At the stage of negotiations.
