Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ismail Bekai said that Türkiye plays a key role in the Astana process and a constructive role in the de-escalation process in Syria.
Bekai at his weekly press conference answered questions on the agenda.
Pointing to the importance of the Astana process in reducing tension in Syria, he said: “Turkey plays a key role in the Astana process. The diplomat emphasized that the Astana process is the most constant and successful mechanism for monitoring the crisis in Syria.
“As part of the Astana process, Turkey, Iran and Syria made great efforts to reduce tension in the region. Three guarantees tried to take measures to control the tension. The Astana process is still alive, and the international community is aware of the influence of this process,” added He.
Regarding the visit of the Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Erakchi to Turkey, Bekai emphasized: “negotiations of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Erakchi in Turkey are aimed at combating terrorism.”
