Iran Is Experiencing Severe Energy Crisis

Due to the energy crisis in Iran, on cold winter days, many plants and state institutions in some provinces closed to the “holidays”, and schools switched to distance learning.

In the country’s rich in oil, the absence of sufficient investments in energy infrastructure due to economic sanctions leads to a deficit of energy supply, and interruptions in electricity in industrial and residential areas, especially in the winter months, cause economic and social problems.

Electricity and natural gas interruptions become inevitable when the growing demand for energy in the country, especially in the winter months, is combined with the inadequacy of the existing infrastructure.

call to lower the temperature by 2 degrees

Some time ago, President Masud Cyezeshkin turned to citizens and asked them to lower the temperature of the boilers 2 degrees lower.

Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi, in turn, urged the population to reduce fuel consumption in order to provide power plants with a large amount of gas and avoid problems with electricity supply to citizens.

indicating that some power plants failed, Aliabadi said that people should reduce fuel consumption.

Due to energy problems, training at all levels in Ardebile, Tehran, West Azerbaijan, Simnan, Gulistan, Northern Khorasan, Rezan Horasan, Zandaran, Zandistan and Kermanshaha was suspended in December.

Factories and workshops stopped

Iranian Vice President Mohammad Jafar Kaimpen on December 17 stated that the activities of factories and workshops in some industrial zones were stopped due to the lack of natural gas in the country.

According to him, the country’s need for natural gas is 945 million cubic meters, and about 840 million cubic meters have been obtained.

According to the Tejaratnews news site, most of the country’s needs in electricity are still satisfied due to the thermal power plants operating on natural gas. This situation leads to a deficiency of about 15 thousand megavatts during the period of peak demand for electricity. Frequent interruptions in the supply of electricity create serious problems for industry and citizens.

In Iran, 94 percent of electricity is produced on fossil fuel. While the share of chickenpox and solar energy in the world is 13 percent, in Iran it is 0.6 percent.

Authorities in the supply of electricity are damaged by the production of billions of dollars

Excessive dependence on natural gas, the lack of technological progress and the old infrastructure negatively affect the development of renewable energy sources. In addition, the outdated infrastructure of generation and transmission of electricity leads to energy losses and causes serious damage to the national economy.

Such inefficiency increases expenses and reduces the reliability of electric networks.
