Iran: Over 20 People Died Due To Use Of Fake Alcohol

In the Iranian province of Mazenderan, due to the use of fake alcoholic drinks, 21 people died.

As the Iranian news agency SNN reports with reference to the general director of forensic medicine Ali Abbasi, severe poisoning caused methyl alcohol.

According to him, 18 of the dead are men, the rest are women. Abbasi noted that the use of methyl alcohol can cause blindness, renal failure and death.

Head of the medical department of the University of Medical Sciences of the University of Medical Sciences, Resul Zawfendena noted that with symptoms of poisoning caused by the use of methyl alcohol, 284 people were hospitalized.

Iranian doctor said that four of them lost their vision, 81 – dialysis was required due to renal failure.

In Iran, where alcohol is prohibited, in illegally produced drinks instead of ethyl, cheap methyl alcohol, which is also called technical, is sometimes used. Methyl alcohol is a dangerous poison. In the liquidation and food industries, it is prohibited for use due to high toxicity. It is from him that people die or become disabled. The nervous system is damaged, in particular – the retina and the visual nerve, leading to blindness, all internal organs are affected.
