In Iran, six demonstrators accused of participating in the protests that began after the death of Mahsa Amini, a death sentence was sentenced. This was announced by the lawyer of the accused Babek Paknia through social networks.
According to Pakniy, the Tegran’s revolutionary court by a majority vote sentenced the defendants to the death penalty. The lawyer noted that the decision may be appealed. In relation to the other two accused in the case, the final decision has not yet been made.
In previous trials, death sentences were carried out at least 17 to persons, of which 7 were already executed.
The protests caused by the death of the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini began in September 2022, after the girl was detained by the moral police for violating the rules for wearing a hijab. Mahsa Amini died in the hospital, which led to mass protests throughout the country, which lasted several months and accompanied by cruel clashes with security forces. According to human rights organizations, hundreds of people were killed during protests, including dozens of law enforcement officials.
