Iran: Work Of State Institutions And Educational Institutions Was Suspended Due To Sand Storms

In a number of Iran’s provinces, due to strong sand storms and a high level of air pollution, the work of state institutions, banks, as well as educational institutions of all levels, was suspended. Local authorities urge residents to stay at home if possible and observe precautions.

According to the IRNA official news agency, sand storms and air pollution negatively affected the life of the population in a number of southern provinces of Iran.

Due to the strong transfer of dust and a high level of atmospheric pollution in the provinces of Lustan, Kermanshah, Kokhgiwill -Buyer -Ahmad, Central and Busher – where the atomic power plant is located – the work of state institutions, banks and educational institutions of all levels was suspended.

The authorities said that in Iran’s provinces, training will be continued in online format, and emergency units will continue to work as usual.

At the same time, according to the statement of the airport of the Province of Huzestan, which borders on the Iraqi city of Basra and the Persian Gulf, the sand storm caused malfunctions in the air traffic. In particular, three flights were canceled in the city of Ahvaz.

In connection with adverse weather conditions, it was also announced to transfer eight flights to further notification. Passengers are recommended to monitor updates on the official website of the Ahhaz International Airport.

So far, sand storms and a high level of air pollution continue to influence a number of provinces in the south-west of the country, in other regions of Iran, including the capital, strong thunders and rain are expected. According to meteorological services, adverse weather phenomena will affect 22 provinces, including Tehran.
