Tehran is ready for rapprochement with Er-Riyadh, with which Tehran has historically difficult relationships. This was said by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Damascus, reports Associated Press.
“We are definitely ready and always were ready for close connections with Saudi Arabia,” said Zarif.
Baghdad recently confirmed that last month made an intermediary in Iran’s negotiations with Saudi Arabia. The parties talked “more than once,” and after that contacts continued.
Previously, the Criminal Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Ben Salman said in an interview with Saudi television that Er-Riyad expects good relations with Iran. Later in the Iranian Foreign Ministry supported such statements of the Prince.
