Iranian President: Tehran Is Ready To Negotiate With United States On An Equal Footing, And Not Under Threats

Tehran is ready to negotiate with the United States on an equal footing, and not under threats. This was stated by Iranian President Masud Kiteshkian, commenting on one of the programs in Tehran the threats about the attack of US President Donald Trump.

“Iran wants a dialogue on the equal footing. On the one hand, they threaten Iran, and on the other, they want negotiations. If you want negotiations, what is the point of threats? The USA today humiliates not only Iran, but the whole world. This behavior contradicts the call for negotiations,” said the president of Iran.

Trump’s calls to negotiations and threats to Iran

Earlier, on March 7, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox Business that he sent a letter to the spiritual leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khameni with a proposal to discuss a nuclear program.

Trump noted that he would prefer to conclude a deal with Iran under a nuclear program.

“If Iran does not go to negotiations, it will be very bad for him. Iran should not receive nuclear weapons. There are other options,” he said.

In turn, the spiritual leader of Iran said that the United States does not want to solve problems, but tend to impose their requirements and establish dominance, while Tehran will not agree with this.

Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates Anvar Gargash met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi in Tehran on March 12 and handed Trump’s letter. In Tehran, they promised to give an answer to the letter through Oman on March 27.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said that Iran would not conduct direct negotiations with the United States while Trump continues his threats. At the same time, he noted that Tehran is ready for indirect negotiations through intermediaries.

Arakchi also stated that contrary to Trump’s requirements, Tehran will negotiate only on nuclear issues, while the issue of defense capabilities of his country is not subject to discussion.

March 30, Trump threatened Iran with “such bombing that he had never seen before.”

“If they do not make a deal, then the bombing will begin. It will be the bombing that they have never seen before,” he said.

In response, the spiritual leader of Iran said that Tehran would react in the most decisive way to any attack.
