Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iraq President Abdul Latif Rashid discussed bilateral relations and regional issues in Tehran, the press service of the IRI presidential administration reports.
The meeting of Rashid with Rashid, who first visited Iran as the head of the Iraqi state, took place in the Sadabad Palace in the Iranian capital.
Iri President noted that cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad continues in areas such as infrastructure, water, electricity, gas and energy.
“The use of current capacities should be continued in such a way as to fully satisfy the needs of both parties,” Raisi emphasized.
Speaking about the security agreement between Iran and Iraq and its role in improving regional security, Raisi said that Tehran considers Iraq safety as his own security.
In addition, Iranian President noted that Tehran considers negotiations between regional countries. At this Raisi, he called the presence of foreign powers in the region “destructive”. “The presence of the United States poses a threat to the security of the region. Our relations with Iraq and the countries of the region are based on the common interests and security of the peoples of the region, but the Americans care only about their own interests,” Raisi said.
In addition, Iranian President drew attention to the fight against drug trafficking, noting the leading role of Iraq and Iran in this direction.
Raisi expressed satisfaction with the determination of Iraq in the fight against drugs.
