El-kaim checkpoint on the border of Iraq with Syria is completely closed, and security on the border is ensured, Iraqi authorities said.
According to information published by the official Iraqi Agency of Ina, the El Caim checkpoint remains closed, and crossing the border through it is prohibited.
The message emphasizes that there are no armed opposition groups and regime forces on the Syrian side of the border. The Iraqi side has thermal chambers for monitoring the situation.
The official military representative of the Iraq Prime Minister General Yahya Rasul said that the situation on the border is controlled by Iraqi military units. The command of the border forces confirmed that security was ensured using various fortifications, such as ditch, earthen ramparts, wire fences and concrete walls.
