Iraq Foreign Minister: There Is Consensus In Syria Between Baghdad And Ankara

There is a consensus between Iraq and Turkey regarding the actions against the background of the situation in Syria.

This was stated by Iraq Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein at a joint press conference with the Turkish colleague Hakan Fidan in Baghdad.

He noted that the Iraqi and Turkish side maintain constant contacts with the new administration in Damascus and seek to coordinate actions on various issues.

The diplomat said that during the negotiations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq and Turkey discussed the safety of borders and the fight against the terrorist organization of Deaash. He indicated that consultations and meetings in the field of fighting terrorism will continue.

“We had the opportunity to consider political and energy issues between the two countries, the issue of water resources, trade relations and the situation of Turkish companies in Iraq,” Hussein added, commenting on the results of the meeting with the Turkish colleague.

According to the minister, strong bilateral relations are established between Baghdad and Ankara.

Hussein recalled that during a visit to Iraq, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, they were signed as part of the steps to develop Turkish-Iraqi ties in many areas.
