Israeli Minister of Defense Beni Hanz ordered the army to prepare for a possible escalation of tension on the northern border of the country.
Israeli media write that the order was given at a weekly meeting to assess the situation. The office of the Minister of Defense said that he instructed the IDF to “prepare for the scenario of escalation in the north, both in the case of offensive and defensive actions, given the development of negotiations on the sea border.”
The Directive of the Minister of Defense appeared a few hours after it became known about the decision of the Yair Lapid to reject the Lebanese amendments in the agreement on the marine borders between the countries.
Earlier, the leader of the Hizballa Lebanese organization Sheikh Hassan Nasrolla threatened to attack the sea platform at the Karish deposit, if Israel begins gas production there before signing an agreement on the marine border between countries, Israeli media noted. Israel through intermediaries promised to harshly answer any provocation.
