Israeli ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Ben Zvi, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and asked for explanations of what the investigation, begun by the Ministry of Justice of Russia against the Jewish Agency and his work with the Jewish community. According to the Israeli edition of Details, the Russian deputy minister made it clear that this was not a political step against Israel. At the same time, Israeli officials fear that this is a sign of dissatisfaction with the policy in relation to the war in Ukraine.
As the publication notes with reference to three Israeli sources involved in this issue, this appeal was made last week. Israel is afraid that the investigation of the Ministry of Justice of Russia will lead to the announcement of the Jewish agency by a foreign agent and, as a result, to the cessation of his activities in Russia in the field of Jewish repatriation in Israel.
Earlier, as reported by The Jerusalem Post with reference to sources, the Russian authorities demanded that the “Jewish Agency) endure activities in Russia.
