Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid during a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Greece Nikoos Dendias asked to immediately release the Israeli citizen Dudu Ashkenazi, arrested by the local authorities at the request of Interpol, the details were reported.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel reports that its employees are in contact with relatives of Dudu Ashkenazi, as well as with officials of Greece, making every effort to return it home. Pen law enforcement officers believe that a person named Dudu Ashkenazi, also known, also nicknamed “El-Code”, who has the citizenship of Israel and Azerbaijan, is part of a criminal syndicate that was engaged in drug smuggling in 2012.
Dudu Ashkenazi and his lawyer, detained in Greece, assure that there was an error. It is reported that Ashkenazi is an appraiser of cars, in 2012 he worked in the DAN bus company and did not visit Peru at that time.
Today, the Israeli media published a letter to Dudu Ashkenazi, in which he explains that he became a victim of a terrible mistake and that misfortune fell on him.
As the lawyers stated, there is an elementary error in the recognition of persons. Law enforcement agencies simply arrested the wrong person because of poor-quality photography. Ashkenazi himself believes that his personal data were stolen by representatives of the criminal community. Lawyers assured that Ashkenazi would soon be released. The Ministry of Tourism of Israel also stated that he was holding his business at control
