All over the world, efforts to protect lions are made, the number of which is reduced. In the zoo of the Istanbulsky district of Tuzl about these animals born of kilometers from the natural habitat, carefully cares to ensure a long and comfortable living.

Most of the day the lions are sleeping. Once every two days they are fed chicken and meat. A team of experts, led by veterinarian Yujel Yilmaz, carefully monitors the health of animals, and perfect cleanliness in the enclosures is supported.

Male and females coexisting with each other, after reaching sexuality, are placed in one aviary. Pregnant lionesses are placed in a separate enclosure and observe the condition through surveillance chambers.

After a period of pregnancy, the lioness give birth to about three months on their own, without external intervention, as in the natural environment.

After the birth of the kids, females are brought up, they are introduced to fathers at 5 months of age, and if no negative situations occur, they settled the lion’s family together.

If the lioness refuses to take care of the cub, this work falls on the shoulders of the zoo caretakers. Lione, whom the female refused to feed, take them to take care separately.

Eugel Jilmaz took care of two Lionians

The chief veterinarian of the zoo Eugel Yilmaz took care of two Lionians, whom the lioness refused after giving birth.

Three years ago, a lion cub was born in the Bely Lviv family, whom the caretakers called the “Angel”. The lioness refused him. Yilmaz took the baby home when he was just a foot tall. He fed the lion cub from the bottle, did not accept the guests so that the cub with weak immunity would not get sick.

“Angel” grew up, gained weight and at the age of 45 days he was returned to the zoo. In June, he turned three years old – this is a sexual age in the Lviv population. Those ongoers plan to populate him into one aviary with a lioness and hope to get offspring.

The brown lion, known as the African lion, also gave birth to four cubs 5 months ago, but soon killed three of them. The fourth again took Yylmaz.

The cub called the “caramel”. He became a new member of the veterinarian family. Two children and spouse of Yilmaz, a veterinarian by profession.

A month and a half of care and departure allowed to return the “caramel” to the zoo and put in the aviary.
