ISW reacted to Medvedev’s statements

Applications of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev are part of the information special operation, which is aimed at weakening the Western support of Ukraine. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Experts analyzed Medvedev’s message dated December 16, in which he called the legal military goals of the Russian Federation. “The Armed Forces of other countries, which officially entered the war” in Ukraine.

were included there.

Medvedev rhetorically doubted whether the military aid of Western partners to Ukraine means that NATO members entered the war against Russia. According to analysts, comments are probably associated with massive Russian missile strikes and attempts to weaken the Western support of Ukraine, inciting the fears of the escalation between the West and Russia.

and ISW noted that Medvedev made purposefully inciting comments on the support of other information operations for the same purpose. It is indicated that the rhetoric of the policy still does not correspond to the actual position of the Kremlin regarding the war in Ukraine. Russian forces, of course, were inflicted and will probably continue to strike the Western military equipment that Ukrainian forces placed in Ukraine.
