ISW told why Russia is in hurry to start new offensive in Ukraine

The Russian command is in a hurry to start a decisive offensive due to two factors – the arrival of Western military assistance and the offensive of the spring thaw, which is expected in about April. This conclusion was reached by experts of the American Institute for the Study of War.

The new ISW report notes that it was the Rasputure factor that prevented Russian mechanized maneuvers in the spring of 2022. At the same time, “individual voices of Russian nationalists continued to express skepticism regarding the ability of Russia to begin a successful offensive in late February.”

According to Ukrainian officials, Russian troops are preparing for a large-scale decisive offensive in the east of Ukraine in the mid-and scam of February.
