Italy: dozens of mafiosi detained

Italian law enforcement agencies detained 31 people suspected of relations with the mafia, reports Ansa.

According to the agency, the detainees also incriminated the storage and production of drugs, storage of weapons, extortion and other crimes. It is reported that 29 people were taken into custody, and two were placed under house arrest. The detentions were made in Sicily, in Calabria, as well as in the north of the country.

We are talking about the alleged members of the Sicilian Mafia “Kosa Nostra”. In particular, the investigation found that the criminal group was involved in the theft of 16 thousand medical masks for their subsequent resale three years ago. In addition, law enforcement agencies seized about 80 kg of narcotic substances. According to investigators, the cost of so many drugs in the black market is more than 8 million euros.
